How Eyebrow and Lash Tinting Can Make You Stand Out

People with fair hair often lament that their eyebrows and eyelashes are practically invisible—or you might just be cursed with very thin brows. If you’re not the type of person who enjoys putting on makeup every morning, this can be frustrating. After all, our eyebrows and eyelashes help frame our eyes and make them stand out. Imagine the time you’d be able to save if you didn’t have to fill in your brows or use mascara.

At Gilbert Wax Bar, LLC, we offer eyelash and eyebrow tinting services in Gilbert, AZ. Cut down on your morning routine time and make your eyes the focal point of your face when you book an appointment with us. Here’s how it works.

The basics of brow and lash tinting

Our tinting appointments include safe dyes to darken the eyebrows and eyelashes. This gives the appearance of thicker, fuller brows without the need for cosmetics. As you might imagine, the fuller your brows already are, the more dramatic the results will be.

These appointments take about 15 minutes. Your aesthetician will apply a protective barrier around your brows or eyelids so the dye doesn’t stain your skin. The dye is applied in two layers: one going in the direction of your hair, and the second in the opposite direction. You’ll wait for the dye to penetrate the hair, then it will be wiped off with a damp cloth. (Sometimes the skin under your brows will be stained, but that will wash off. If you’re concerned about allergic reactions, let your aesthetician know and we can perform a patch test first.)

You should see immediate results, and they will last about three to six weeks. If you have gray brows or lashes, it can be more difficult to get the dye to penetrate the follicle, so be prepared to wait a little longer as you wait for it to take.

After your appointment

Taking care of your brows and lashes after the tinting appointment is important. Avoid getting them wet for at least 12 hours. Don’t apply exfoliants, retinoids, retinols or oil-based products around your eyes, as they can damage the dye job or irritate your skin further. Vaseline and Aquaphor can help create a protective barrier between your skin and the dye or other skincare products.

If you plan to continue tinting appointments, plan on coming in every four to six weeks. Your brows and lashes usually replace themselves within three to four weeks; faster hair loss or fading dye can shorten the amount of time your brows and lashes stay tinted.
